NVQ Level 2 & 3 Spectator Safety
Designed for anyone considering a career in stewarding at spectator events or refreshing their knowledge for a supervisory position.
Who is this course for?
Anyone over 16 who would like to gain a qualification through work-based training.
Do I need any previous training?
No experience needed for Level 2.
How long does it last?
Initial training lasts 1 full day with at least 2 work placements for LIVE assessment.
Will I get a certificate?
Yes. You will receive the City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 or 3 certificate in Spectator Safety.

- How stewards prepare for spectator events
- How stewards control the entry, exit and movement of spectators at events
- How stewards monitor crowds and respond to potential crowd problems at spectator events
- How to respond to injuries, illnesses and other emergencies in active leisure and learning
On Level 3 you will be taught:
- How to prepare stewards and venues for spectator events
- Maintain stewarding in designated areas and deal with spectator problems and emergencies
- Develop productive working relationships with colleagues
- Help to manage conflict
- Manage information and action
Who are the Tutors?
Gareth Stones - has worked in the Event Security Industry at St James Park, Stadium of Light as well as all the major venues in the North East.
Jocelyn Wood - has worked as a senior steward in football, horse racing and the music industry.
Anthony Easom - has worked at national venues such as the O2 Greenwich, Twickenham and Wembley Stadium.
